flight of the monarchs

the inspiration for the pelamin at the Istana Negeri came from our client's fondness of flowers and butterflies.  because the two elements complement each other naturally, we decided on an enchanted garden theme for the occasion.  so, in the palace, we created a garden path beginning from the top of a grand staircase to the rendezvous point where the pelamin was.  along the path, we decorated the space with sprawling floral arrangements and topiaries alighted with majestic butterflies...

moroccan mores

another moroccan themed occasion, another opportunity to explore a new look.  at the Istana hotel recently, we were blessed with such a serendipitous possibility when the client requested for moroccan wedding reception.  because the client wished for a contemporary twist to this favorite theme, we pared off the usual bling and bright colors and settled for subtle hints of glamor and a demure color palette.  but we adhered solidly to the quintessential elements that make this theme so charming and romantic in the first place.  see if you can spot the water pipes and hexagonal accent tables in these photos:

fantasy fair

we were delighted when Farhan from Akademi Fantasia 4 decided to hold her engagement ceremony at our very own Flora Kafe. because our kafe has been designed to cater to such private functions, Farhan's proceedings went on flawlessly. our angels even concluded that it was one of the smoothest special events we helped put together. maybe it was the venue, maybe it was the food or maybe Farhan was the easiest client to work with. whatever the reason, we hope this was good karma for better things to come. we wish and pray for the best for both Farhan and her betrothed. and we certainly look forward to their wedding day.

glass house party

yesterday, our Flora Kafe became the venue for a private party hosted by the lovely Deja Moss. we were most honored and thrilled to have the privilege knowing that the celebrity herself has her own kafe! but we are always eager to please any client who appreciates our passion. so, we draped our usually bare tables in toile and decked them with extra servings of fresh floral gatherings and block candles. we also added new touches to the ambience with our darling classical votive cups and Louis ghost chairs that we first featured in Mandarin Oriental last month. we can’t wait to have more private functions in our kafe!

box of chocolates

a client from Beverly Heights wanted to incorporate her feature wall into the design of her son's pelamin. the wall has several rows of wooden shelves that surround an array of brightly-colored mushroom-like glass sculptures. it looked daunting at first but our team was up for a good challenge. so, instead of playing it safe by hiding the shelves behind a blank curtain of fabric, we decked them with oodles of gorgeous roses and fluffy hydrangeas to complement the glorious shimmering plates in the center. our client loved the look and so did we!

outside, the look was classical and demure with the guest tables. but drama culminated on and over the sweetheart table. here are glimpses of the day-look.
