our resident angel and ever fabulous event manager, wahida, recently celebrated her birthday at Flora Terrace with her close friends and families. to rejoice in the rosy occasion, wahida complemented the decor of the restaurant with sprinkles of pinks, matted and glittering topped with a fabulous Chanel-inspired birthday cake courtesy of our wedding & event consultant and phenomenal cake maker, khalid ahmad. we wish wahida a very happy birthday and may He grant her another fantastic and fabulous year! 

it's your birthday!

today, we took a moment to celebrate the birthday of an ardent fan, supporter and honorary member of the Flora team, Mokhtar.  for the longest time, he has been a significant presence in our organization, lending support to all our endeavers and especially, providing undivided love to his wife (and our anchorwoman), Akin.  may all the blessings of Allah be upon him for many more birthdays to come.

yesterday, we took a moment to celebrate the birthdays of seven members of our ever growing populace, yours truly included, who were born in january. a round of salutations to azizi, hadi, zam, rafi, hakim & didi. so, to all ye capricorns and aquariuses, may He grant you longer lives, peace and prosperity!

we love to provide ample and appropriate social spaces for all guests attending the events that we do. and we love love love venues that provide us the means to accomplish this accommodating feat without much ado. this birthday celebration at the Equatorial Hotel’s Chalet restaurant had plenty of choice spaces for the hostess' bff and not-so-bff. there were the open lounge seating arrangement for the early birds and chaperones, the long Viking table arrangement for those who wouldn’t mind it, the more private banquettes for the choosy and more inhibited types, and the ultimate cuddly comfy corner for the hostess and her favorite bff to enjoy a private corner amidst all the spectacle. of course all these different spaces also allow us to showcase a host of our fresh gatherings in different charming configurations.

we got the beat

last weekend, a huge fan of the Beatles celebrated his 64th birthday at the grand ballroom of the Hilton, KL. so, he aptly picked "When I'm Sixty Four" as the resounding theme of the occasion and commissioned our team to deck the halls and corridors of the venue in black and white. we lined the foyer with cutouts of the legendary moptops and erected a mini stage with a fantastic backdrop so that guests who were feeling glamorous and compelled to immortalize their experience on that auspicious day could have snapshots of themselves taken at these various 'red-carpet treatment' points. inside the ballroom, we dropped more cutouts of the fab four and their guitars from the ceiling, along with complementary fringe curtain chandeliers for good measure. of course, we didn't leave the tables to be hoarded by the caterers. we decked the tabletops with candles and our signature fresh gatherings in white with touches of silver and the lightest of blue for character, all contained either in clear cylinders or bespoke lunch boxes that we dressed with prints of the birthday boy in a mop hairdo. complementary mock vinyls imprinted with the face of the birthday boy in moptop completed our tabletop drama.

we are most delighted to share the glory of our beloved and dear friend, Radzuan Radziwill, who has just been conferred the honorary title of 'Datuk' by His Royal Highness, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin. a close friend of his chose our kafe as the venue to celebrate his most triumphant achievement to date. to mark the occasion, we dolled up our kafe with some frills and feathers. have a peek at what we did on our facebook page.

we were wickedly elated when told that a guest at one of the events we did last year couldn't find her way to the toilet. it was because we had so transformed the space that she could not recognize it! we did it again just last weekend at the Royal Lake Club for a birthday bash. only this time nobody got lost, thank goodness! we had draped the entire wall and ceiling of the Banquet Hall in soft fabric, flooded the space with blue light and transformed the look from rustic colonial to glitzy and glamorous Hollywood!

we were slightly shaken with trepidation when the guest list at yesterday’s birthday do ballooned from 200 people during initial discussions to 800 people on the day of the event. but thank goodness for elephant ears! these oversized fan-shaped babies were a Godsend when you need maximum coverage when all else failed. so, here’s the look that we put together for our client’s golden jubilee.

diamonds are forever

our kafe became the venue for yet another birthday celebration Monday night. Intan's brother, who attended the previous party at our kafe last weekend, was so besotted by the ambience that he suggested she hold her own party here. that gave us ample excuse to change the drapes and table overlays to set the appropriate mood for our princess' birthday do. for color and grace, we placed potted fuschia phalaenopsis orchids in mirror tile boxes as centerpieces on all the tables. our best wishes for Intan, may He bestow upon her everlasting health and happiness. amin..
