tasty traditional

last saturday, we went traditional malay for this majlis akad nikah at the client's private residence in Bukit Damansara.  to cater to our client's contemporary tastes without compromising on her traditional tendencies, we melded the old and the new in the decor.  we used songket overlays for the guest tables that we decked with contemporary floral gatherings on gold teko basuh tangan.  we added vitality to the otherwise austere nikah area with fresh gatherings that we laid out loosely on the windowsills in the background. for the pelamin bersanding, instead of going typical and predictable with ornate floral embellishments on dark velvet, we went simple and chic with a bespoke 'antique' bed pelamin gingerly graced with fragrant jasmine leis, and adorned with pastel colored fresh florals upon a dreamy backdrop of golds and creams.  have a look...

chic conversation

last weekend, our angels were in Ipoh to grace the residence of a dear client with some floral flair and fine touches.  the client was formally introducing her baby boy to her extended family and relatives with a majlis cukur jambul.  as the decor would be crucial for a lasting impression, she gave us free rein to embellish her residence accordingly. our angels had picked her living hall as the main area for the event where the baby boy in his cradle would be the center of the whole affair.  so, to create the desired look, our angels had to literally transform the space from typical to topical.  first, they covered the plaster walls and marbled floor with wooden panels washed in white.  then they added two panels of latticework styled in classical quatrefoil to evoke dialogue.  for lasting conversations, fine and classical architectural pieces were added to the developing drama.  garden and household accessories added inflections and variety.  and finally, splashes of purples and blues were propped, gathered, and sprawled across the decorated space for conversations that would be repeated over and over.

uncommon valor

an intrepid client advanced a novel proposal to have a larger-than-life bridal bouquet set up as the backdrop of her pelamin. a ludicrous venture we innitially thought, envisioning a giant colorful mass of oversized petals leaning precariously over two anxious newlyweds with the audience holding its breath. but we went gingerly ahead with the idea. of course we were mindful that real flowers would suffice to produce a large bush instead of a bouquet. so, we turned back to our previous creations for inspirations. it didn't take us long to find what we needed. we decided to use the faux flowers that we used here, dipped them in the various tones of the current palette, and fashioned them into the desired bouquet as per design. in the end, the award for bravery and ingenuity goes to...

soft love

our oversize felt flowers featured prominently during the wedding reception at the Dewan Merak Kayangan recently. the flowers drew the admiration of arriving guests at the entrance as well as those seated inside the ballroom with their sheer size and elegance. the ambiance was light and airy with colors emanating from our signature gatherings clustered in the middle of the main table and floated upon tall transparent stands and cylinders. the all-white pelamin evoked such fresh innocence with its bold floral motifs and modest splashes of colors.
