precious pondering

the best part of dealing with fresh flowers is the constant reaffirmation that no matter the number of times we work with them, no matter the sameness in the kinds of flowers we use or the repetition in the look of the decor, we would always be rewarded with their pure unadulterated natural beauty that no level of imitation can surpass.  just look at these simple gatherings out angels lovingly fashioned for this simple engagement ceremony in Shah Alam recently.

weekend engagament

last saturday, Ahmad Fariz and Farra Roziana held their engagement ceremony at our Flora Kafe.   'twas another day of delicious food and delightful dining catered by our angels at the cafe.

fantasy fair

we were delighted when Farhan from Akademi Fantasia 4 decided to hold her engagement ceremony at our very own Flora Kafe. because our kafe has been designed to cater to such private functions, Farhan's proceedings went on flawlessly. our angels even concluded that it was one of the smoothest special events we helped put together. maybe it was the venue, maybe it was the food or maybe Farhan was the easiest client to work with. whatever the reason, we hope this was good karma for better things to come. we wish and pray for the best for both Farhan and her betrothed. and we certainly look forward to their wedding day.

pristine prelude

we believe that an engagement ceremony should exude a calm and collected feel when all manner of celebration should remain subdued as not to outshine the exuberance of the wedding ceremony yet to come. as such, we were pleasantly enamored with the look and feel we created for this particular engagement ceremony held at a client's private residence. our client's affinity for a restrained palette went hand-in-hand with our point of view for such an event. but whatever weariness that could have transpired from the seemingly constricted color choice was compensated with subtle inflections in tone and texture punctuated with the distinct notes of natural floral scents.

while the private engagement ritual was held indoors, guests were served outdoors under a white marquee we set up on the grounds of the residence. we draped the walled sections of the marquee with a double-layer of fabric and embellished the raw spaces along the wall with tall stands of baby's breath topiaries. soft light emanating from a row of crystal chandeliers hung from the apex of the marquee bathed the whole pale interior in a rich warm glow. finally, we covered the tables below with white textured overlays and populated the tabletops with triplicates of clear votive cups, chrome candle stands and floral gatherings of fragrant peonies and hycinths. here's a sampling of the day's look.

marrakesh mix

when the venue is already an architecturally marvelous space decked with exotic charms from faraway places, we usually venture no further than to fill the few nooks and crannies with unobtrusive embellishments. this was the case last weekend when we were commissioned to adorn a client's picturesque home in Tropicana for an engagement ceremony. the Moorish-inspired interiors were already articulating a romantic mystique to the ambience and they needed just the slightest floral touches to befit the occasion. so, we chose a neutral palette for our gatherings of mostly exuberant roses and hydrangeas that we garnished with succulent cymbidiums and blissfully fragrant tuberoses. we dressed the dining tables in luxuriant bronze-tinged songket with gold treads and weighed them down with adorable clear votives, loose gatherings in pearl-encrusted shot glasses and centerpieces of golden water pitchers in beds of roses and hydrangeas.

just peachy

as we advised you earlier, go easy on your engagement celebration so that later you may lavish more time and energy on your other (bigger) event. here's another example of a simple yet splendid engagement ceremony we did recently.

desirable clutter

for a small private engagement ceremony, simple gatherings of loose floral will suffice to evoke that quiet splendor. we recommend you save all the energy and drama for your wedding day. here's a sampling of our simple touches at Jannah & Zaid's engagement ceremony recently (last photo courtesy of Lanz photography).

rhapsody in blue

it’s quite okay to be sentimental. but sometimes when you’ve done a million events tuned to the same frequency, you need something jazzy to liven things up. which is why we love Syerlee for having the audacity to tune in to this snazzy design for her pelamin. a white canvas with touches of blue all over. do you hear the jazz playing in the background, darling?
