animal planet

for their 30th anniversary celebration, the people at Yayasan Sime Darby decided to hold a gathering at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC).  appropriately themed to the foundation's focus on the protection and preservation of the natural environment, the people wished to feature representations of endangered animals from the foundation's "our big 9" program in the decoration.  what better way to highlight the animals than to add them to the centerpieces?  so, we set about dressing the tables in alternative copper and olive overlays to evoke an earthly feel. then we created miniature tropical islands on the tables with elephant ears, river pebbles, sphagnum moss and sprinklings of colorful orchids.  we made the islands in different heights and configurations to represent the diversity in our ecosystems.  finally, on the islands, we placed cutouts of the animals from the big 9 list in black silhouettes labeled in green so guests would learn their names.  here's a peek at the look of the evening.

precipitation

we love when it rains during our events because everyone gets elated and no one ever gets wet. but we're talking raining crystals and flowers, darling. so, we kid you not. recently, at Elaine and Mike's wedding celebration, we showered the occasion with our raindrop crystals, white wisterias and paper pom poms. of course, no occasion of ours is complete without the gracious splendor of our signature gatherings. our best wishes and prayers to the newlyweds, may He grant them a profusion of blessings and happiness throughout their entire lives together. here are snapshots of the occasion with the first six courtesy of zung photography.

easel does it

occasionally, we would receive orders for easel flower arrangements from clients wanting to wish good fortunes to friends or colleagues embarking on new business ventures. for these auspicious send-offs, we pick red for luck and yellow for properity. here's a sampling:

as much as we love indulging ourselves with modern elements in our designs, we never turn our backs on the more tradional elements. so, when the chance to work out a traditional malay themed wedding arrived, we grabbed it.

our client picked green and gold as the main colors. we presented these in the fabrics used for the table overlays and the drapes, as well as in the ornaments used in the pelamin. somewhat a unique feature that we used were the ‘gold-plated’ betel leaves that we suspended over stringed jasmines in panels that we used as a backdrop for the pelamin. the gold leaves complemented the gilded chairs and motifs of the pelamin quite beautifully. the apple green velvet we picked to cover the 5-tiered pelamin was nothing short of looking regal and demure at the same time.

on this occasion, our client was keen on presenting not only a feast to the eyes but also a savory olfactory experience. so, apart from the usual eye-catching floral entres, we also served aromatic ylang ylang, cempakas, tuberoses and jasmines in our arrangements. we upped the fragrant feel a notch by adding generous sprinklings of bunga mawar on all the dinner tables as well as the main table. here are a few shots of our work inside the Shangri-La ballroom minutes before the start of the event:

lady marmalade

orange roses are adorably bright and cheery, and they make great picker-uppers to help counter the blues. here, we've gathered them along with our favorite flowers in a quaint arrangement. we hope it would help make it a fine and dandy day at the receiving end.

now and then, we love tweaking our arrangements to make them more interesting. here, we have added a few stalks of white phalaenopsis orchids on one side of the arrangement to make it just a lil more playful.

happy day

here's a simple arrangement to cheer that someone on her happiest day of the year: a ball of crisp crimson carnations embellished with cheerful clusters of gerbera daisies in sunflower yellow, fresh fuschia and zestful vermillion. for texture and drama, throw in spritely stalks of red gladiolus, springy curly willows, straggly dusty millers and the spreading leaves of the asplenium and money plant. finally, tie a few bows of red organza ribbons with gold trimmings to add charm to the arrangement. happy birthday, darling.
